UM professor Brian Hall elected fellow of American Psychological Association

Brian Hall, a professor in the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Macau (UM), has been elected a fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA). Prof Hall is the only psychologist in Macao to have been elected an APA fellow. Currently, there are only ten APA fellows in the Greater China region. Among the more than 120,000 APA members around the world, fewer than 4 per cent are APA fellows.


Global Tourism Economy Forum slated to unfold in Macao in mid-October for “Tourism and Leisure: Roadmap to a Beautiful Life”

The Global Tourism Economy Forum (“GTEF” or “the Forum”)will convene in Macao under the theme “Tourism and Leisure: Roadmap to a Beautiful Life” on 13 - 15 October. Centred on the concept of “Beautiful Life” raised by President Xi Jinping, the Forum will lead forward-thinking discussions on global tourism economy. This year, GTEF will deepen its collaboration with the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) by bringing the finale of the “UNWTO Tourism Tech Adventure: SportsTech” to Macao for the first time. The first “GTEF ∙ World Tourism Investment and Financing Conference” will also be launched in this edition.


Seac Pai Van Library officially opens providing quality reading experience as well as learning and leisure facilities

The Seac Pai Van Library, under the Macao Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym), was inaugurated in the morning of 24 September. The opening ceremony was officiated by the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Alexis Tam Chon Weng; the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mok Ian Ian; the Member of the Administration Committee on Municipal Affairs of the Municipal Affairs Bureau, Isabel Celeste Jorge; the Deputy Director of the Infrastructure Development Office, Luís Manuel Silva Madeira de Carvalho; the Head of the Department of Public Housing of the Housing Bureau, Chan Wa Keong; and the Head of the Division of Secondary and Vocational Technical of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Leong I On. The Seac Pai Van Library officially opens, providing residents quality reading experience and reading space.




Mr. Shi and His Lover Extra dates for love and espionage at CCM

Due to the overwhelming demand, the Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, is presenting additional dates for Mr. Shi and His Lover at the Small Auditorium.Having sold out on the first three days of ticket sales, the provocative musical drama will be staged in two more sessions scheduled for 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. on November 24.



Consumer Council released 7th supermarket price survey report of the current month

The Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ of the second-half of September on 23 September for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 10 supermarkets in Santo António Parish. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.


UM’s first DBA programme admits 20 senior business executives

The Faculty of Business Administration of the University of Macau launched its Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme in this academic year. This 3-year DBA programme is designed to broaden an international vision and develop an innovative perspective of senior working executives.


Annual Arts Exhibition between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries opens in late September

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the “Lingua Franca - 2nd Annual Arts Exhibition between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, will be inaugurated on 26th September, at 5pm, at No. 55 - 57 Avenida do Coronel Mesquita (Green Townhouses). All are welcome to attend. This exhibition is one of the series activities of “Art Macao” and of the “2nd Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, showcasing the diverse manifestations and development of contemporary art in China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and offering a new experience of Chinese and Portuguese visual arts to residents and tourists.
